First Application/ Ghosts
I generally like to start with the skin tones since they are the most difficult to recreate. This becomes more problematic when the reference is a monochromatic photo. Since I have only a value range to work with, I have to take extra care about which colors I use to make a convincing skin tone. Occasionally I'll use a color/ value range chart to make an educated guess at what the color of something might be.
